Probe Underway after Party Girls Hitch Ride in FDNY Rig

June 23, 2025
The laughing women, one wearing a firefighter's helmet, were hanging out of the FDNY truck taking selfies and waving.

“It’s stupid. It’s just a stupid thing to do.”

That's what a high-ranking FDNY officer said after learning two young party girls were allowed to ride in a rig with its emergency lights and siren activated.

The laughing women were snapping selfies while hanging out of Ladder 18's cab window, The New York Post reported.

But, FDNY officers are not laughing about the stunt that happened early Friday morning.

The incident is under investigation, according to Amanda Farinacci Gonzalez, an FDNY spokesperson.

“We allow people to come on the rigs. We put kids in the rigs all the time for fire safety education and public relations. But as soon as the rig starts to move, that’s a different story,” an unidentified officer told reporters.

Had the truck been involved in a wreck, the standing women may have been hurt.

The chief said if there was an officer was on the truck, he would likely be “disciplined immediately.”

In 2022, San Jose firefighters were investigated after a bikini-clad woman emerged from a fire truck at a strip club. Data showed the rig had stopped at two establishments.
